Now Starring Stage and TV’s Sean McDermott

Since its premiere at Theater 80 in 2011, Silence! The Musical hasn’t been able to remain silent Off-Broadway at the Elektra Theater (669 Eighth Avenue at 42nd Street) or in its first regional production in Los Angeles and first foreign production in London. In fact, since December 30th, it’s shattered its own previous smash Off-Broadway box-office record.

The bawdy satire has a huge cult following. It was selected by Time magazine as one of the Top Five Musicals of 2011 and won the 2012 Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Musical.

Headlining as the brilliant but insane cannibal Dr. Hannibal Lecter is versatile stage and TV star Sean McDermott. The 10-member cast co-stars Pamela Bob as rookie FBI agent Clarice Starling.

The show, which began as an internet mini-musical and then scored big in the New York International Fringe Festival (Outstanding Musical), is an unauthorized parody of the Oscar-winning psychological drama “The Silence of the Lambs,” adapted by Hunter Bell with a score by Jon and Al Kaplan. Director/choreographer is Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli.

McDermott, who’s performed at Carnegie Hall and his solo show at Joe’s Pub, has the distinct honor of having sung before three U.S. Presidents at Washington’s Kennedy Center. He’s equally adept in lead roles in musical drama (Jekyll and Hyde and Jesus Christ Superstar); musical comedy (Grease), and in classical musicals, Carousel, Show Boat and West Side Story. In addition to touring with Barbra Streisand on her European concert tour, he co-starred as Chris into the run of Miss Saigon, and Whizzer in Falsettos, and Off-Broadway in a revival of The Boys in the Band.

He’s made numerous TV guest appearances, including on “Desperate Housewives” and co-starred as Hart Jessup on “The Guiding Light.”

Silence! The Musical plays Fridays at 7PM and Saturdays at 2 and 7.
